Introduction:

Are all your friends making plans for their lives after matric/NC(V) Level4 but you don’t know where to start?  Does the thought of your future confuse you? Do you feel like you want to take the next step for your life but you don’t know where to begin looking? Do opportunities excite you but you turn them down for financial or academic reasons? If this describes where you are at, then you need to join us.

 

What is BizSchool?

BizSchool is for you if you are going to write your matric or NC(V) Level4 exams this year but have no career or study plans for next year.  It is a 13 day programme where you will learn about:

·  Your strengths and talents

· Your personality – what makes you tick.

·   Careers that would suit you

· How to get into the work place

·    How to start your own small business

· How to write your CV and handle a job interview

·    Workplace do’s and don’ts

· Work place communication and presentation skills

·     Working and leading  a team

·  Basic IT Skills

·     How to manage your time

·  Personal Finances

·     Dreaming dreams and setting goals for your life

·  Taking responsibility for making your life happen!

 How does it work:

There will be up to 60 delegates who take part in each Biz School group.  Each day will be different and will include: talks, group work, activities, multi-media, assignments, outings, mentoring, career testing, debates and self reflection amongst other things.  Included in the Biz School programme is a camp which will take place in the Magaliesburg.

When is it? (Note these are tentative Dates Which need to be confirmed upon release of the Matric Exam time table.)

When: Monday 4th December – Wednesday 13th December 2017.

When: Friday 1st December – Sunday 3rd  December

Where: GIBS, Gordon Institute of Business Science, Illovo, Sandton

Where: Campsite in Magaliesberg

Time: 08h00 – 17h00 every day

Time: 09h00am on Friday– 16h00 on Sunday

 

Attendance every day for the full day on the course and on the camp is compulsory.

What is the cost?

Sponsorship is available- contact us to find out how to get sponsored.

The BizSchool cost is R6000 for the full workshop including the camp, lunch each day, the psychological testing and feedback and all the programme activities.

BizSchool is subsidised by donations and therefore the cost has been reduced to R900 per person.  If you would like to attend BizSchool but cannot afford the R900 then you need to Call/Whatsapp Dudu Mntambo on 072 406 8903 or write to dudu@bizschool.org.za and she will give you further information.

How do I join BIzSchool?

If you are interested in joining you need to:

1.      Make sure you are available from the 1st of December to the 13th of December 2017 and can make the full programme and camp

2.     Make sure you can get yourself to and from the Gordon Institute of Business School each day (we will provide transport to and from the camp)

3.     Complete the application form and submit it with a copy of your latest exam results and your ID document by the 15th September 2017. We will contact you once we have received your form and inform you of your place on BizSchool by the 29th September 2017.

We need you to understand that:

This is an awesome programme and we are certain that it could change your life however it is a professional workshop taking place in a professional environment where other professionals will be working.

It is tough and it will require great commitment, dedication and hard work from you.

You will need to:

1.     Arrive on time for all classes

2.     Work with others

3.     Complete assignments and tasks on time, which may mean after hours work

4.     Dress professionally – no jeans, no takkies, no strappy tops for the ladies and no t- shirts for the gents! (This excludes the camp!)

5.     Behave in a way appropriate to a professional work environment.

You will be asked to leave the programme if:

 You are late more than three times for a class or similar

2.     You are absent without a doctor’s note

3.     You display violent/abusive behavior

4.     You consume alcohol or drugs while on the programme

5.     You are found guilty of theft

6.     You do not adhere to the dress code

 

On completion of the programme you will receive a certificate of attendance and the following:

1.     Your own personal budget

2.     A personality profile and career suggestions for future study and work

3.     A mission statement, goals and an awareness of how to achieve your goals

4.     A testimonial from the Biz School team

5.     A CV

6.     A knowledge of how to start your own small mini company

7.     Various life skills and work skills

8.     A peer accountability group and a mentor

9.     An email address

10.   An opportunity to attend further BizSchool functions as a BizSchool Alumni.
